not exactly sure on tri\s to be honest, but when ever i used to train for a big endurance type event in the mob, i used to drop the weights to once or twice a week with a low volume but intense FB, this always seemed to maintain at least and normally increase my strength whilst saving my energy for the running marching cycling what ever.

i imagine to start something like this would work

1 Run (or put your worst event here to get it out of the way, while at your strongest, change the other days accordingly)
2 FB A
3 Swim
4 Cycle
5 FB B
6 Brick, ie practise two event eg swim then cycle or cycle then run
7 Rest

FB A

squats
bench
SLDL
rows

FB B

deads
overhead press
Lunges
chins

3x5

hope that helps :D

I agree with TT drop your strength training to 2 x per week even once a week if you don't feel like your recovering that well. Ideally you want to be doing 2 sessions of each discipline each week if you can. As with weights- training to 'failure' generally isn't the best way to improve so with the S/B/R just do 'enough' to improve and no more otherwise your recovery just goes out of the window. Always focus on good technique with each of the 3 disciplines as like most things this is vital and often overlooked. Oh and don't forget to modify your diet a bit- up the carbs, drop the protein and fat a bit. You will need a lot of carbs!
