Who are rwf?

Real World Fitness has been set up to try and cut through so much of the health and fitness related myths and over-complications that exist.

Being fit, healthy and strong is hard work, and there aren't any quick fixes, no matter what the glossy magazines may want us all to believe.

We'll get you results, and do it in a way that is realistic and, more importantly, sustainable. After all, the best training and nutrition plan in the world is worthless if it doesn't fit in with your lifestyle.

Whatever your goal, there's no substitute for commitment. Only you can achieve your goals; so where do we come in?

Well, we can make sure that your effort and determination is channelled into the right places. Often, people fail to focus their effort in the right direction, and can end up taking years to achieve what can be done in months. We can help you to see through all the conflicting advice out there, and get to your goals quicker.

We have plenty of experience to offer about what works, and what doesn't, regardless of your goals.

At RWF, we have a genuine passion for health and fitness - this is a vocation for us, not just a job. We enjoy helping people getting fitter, stronger and healthier. The fact that we get to do this as a career is simply an added bonus!

We can train you in your home, outside, at your gym (providing you arrange a guest pass or pay the appropriate guest fee) or at a selection of local gyms in the Nottingham area. Almost any location can be a venue for training; just contact RWF to discuss how we can best meet your goals.

Will it be hard work? Yes. Will it work? Yes. Will it be fun? Most of the time...!

RWF Trainers:

Derran Langston, Owner

I have over 10 years worth of first-hand training experience. Initially my focus was on simply getting fit, and I concentrated on running. I then discovered the incredible flexibility and enjoyment of training with free weights and kettlebells, and in next two and a half years added approximately three stone of lean muscle to my frame.

Weight training is still my main passion, and my personal bests in the 'big three' lifts to date are a 137.5kg bench press, a 177.5kg squat and a 217.5kg deadlift. Unfortunately, I broke my leg and snapped my anterior cruciate ligament in my knee (amongst other damage!) in late 2009 and am only now getting back to those personal best levels, currently with post-injury PBs of a 167.5kg squat and a 200kg deadlift.

I have also begun to apply my abilities to many different pursuits, including martial arts, at which I train once a week on top of weight training sessions and sprint training.

In the past couple of years, I have also twice completed the UK Three Peaks Challenge for the Meningitis Trust and MacMillan/Cancer Backup. To find out more about why I supported these charities, click here.

Rebecca Conlin - Personal Trainer

I have always been an outdoors enthusiast. Throughout school and into my teens I was a keen kayaker, and am a qualified Level 3 Kayak Coach. I've even competed against (and drawn with!) the Olympic water polo team.

I completed basic training in the Royal Navy at 18 before deciding against a career in the armed forces, and started working as an Outdoor Pursuits Instructor in Cornwall. This then took me around Europe teaching kayaking, canoeing, archery, climbing etc.

I have had 'traditional' jobs as well, working within children's homes and schools. During this time I was still active, and played for Belper Town Ladies FC, and a men's football team in Kimberley. I also boxed competitively for Eastwood Amateur Boxing Club.

In the last year, I have gained my full Level 3 Personal Trainer qualifications, Indoor Cycling Award (commonly known as 'spin') and Kettlebell Training Qualification.

I'm also committed to a strength and hypertrophy programme to take my physique to the next level and learn more about how the female body adapts to weight training, and it's effects on body composition.

Believe it or not, despite being active all my life, I have previously been overweight - so I can offer first-hand knowledge of what it takes to get back into shape
